Terms of Service

Effective date: 2026-05-03

CodebaseLM is a service operated by Astrafield LLC (“CodebaseLM,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) doing business as CodebaseLM at codebaselm.ai. These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and Astrafield LLC and govern your access to and use of the CodebaseLM website, web app, APIs, and related services (together, the “Service”). Please read them carefully.

1.Acceptance of these Terms

By creating an account, signing in, paying for a subscription, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms, in which case “you” refers to that organization.

2.What CodebaseLM is

CodebaseLM is a web application that generates AI-narrated, voice-led walkthroughs (“tours”) of source code repositories hosted on GitHub. You provide a repository URL or grant access to a repository; the Service reads the relevant files via the GitHub API, summarizes their structure and behavior with large language models, and presents the result as audio plus an interactive transcript and diagram.

The Service is a learning aid, not a substitute for reading code yourself. AI-generated explanations may contain errors, omissions, outdated information, or hallucinations. You are responsible for independently verifying anything you intend to rely on, especially before merging code, shipping a change, or making a security or architectural decision based on a tour.

3.Eligibility

You may use the Service only if you are at least 13 years old. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may only use the Service with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

You may not use the Service if you are located in, ordinarily resident in, or a national of any country or region subject to comprehensive U.S. sanctions, or if you are an individual or entity on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

4.Your account

Most features of the Service require an account. You must provide accurate, current information when you sign up and keep it up to date. You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials, including any tokens issued by GitHub or other identity providers you connect, and for all activity that occurs under your account.

One account is for one person. You may not share your account with others, and you may not create multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits, free-tier quotas, or trial periods. Notify us promptly at support@codebaselm.ai if you suspect any unauthorized access.

5.Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to access, read, or generate tours for any repository for which you do not have a legitimate right of access — including any attempt to bypass GitHub OAuth scopes, use a stolen or borrowed token, or otherwise reach private repositories you have not been granted permission to view.
  • Scrape, crawl, mass-download, or otherwise systematically extract content from the Service, except as expressly permitted by a documented API or with our prior written consent.
  • Probe, benchmark, or stress-test the Service, including its rate limits, queueing behavior, voice or model endpoints, or quota enforcement, without prior written permission.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code, model weights, prompts, or system instructions of the Service, except to the limited extent applicable law expressly permits.
  • Resell, sublicense, or expose the Service to third parties as a hosted product, white-label offering, or competing service.
  • Use the Service to generate content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, harassing, malicious, or designed to deceive or harm others.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service, the servers or networks that host it, or other users' enjoyment of it — including by introducing malware, abusing automation, or attempting to gain unauthorized access.
  • Use the Service in a way that violates any applicable law, regulation, export control, or third-party right (including the GitHub Terms of Service for any repository you tour).

We may investigate suspected violations and may suspend or terminate access at our discretion, with or without notice, for conduct we reasonably believe violates this section.

6.Intellectual property

The Service itself — including the website, the app, the underlying code, the model orchestration, the prompts, the user-interface designs, the “CodebaseLM” name and logo, and any documentation — is owned by Astrafield LLC and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for its intended purpose, subject to these Terms.

You retain all rights to the source code in repositories you tour. We do not claim ownership of your code. To run a tour, you grant Astrafield LLC a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to fetch, copy, transmit, display, process, and analyze that code and its metadata for the purpose of producing and delivering the tour to you (and to retain it briefly in caches and logs for the operational and security purposes described in our Privacy Policy). This license terminates when the relevant processing is complete, except for limited retention periods necessary for backups, audit, or legal compliance.

If you submit feedback, feature requests, or bug reports, you grant us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to use that feedback to improve the Service, with no obligation to compensate you.

7.Subscriptions and payment

CodebaseLM offers a free tier and one or more paid subscription tiers (currently “Pro” and “Pro+”). The current pricing, billing cycles, and quotas are described on codebaselm.ai/pricing and are part of these Terms.

All payments for paid plans are processed by Polar (Polar Software, Inc.), which acts as the Merchant of Record for your purchase. That means Polar — not Astrafield LLC — is the party that issues your invoice or receipt, that collects and remits applicable sales tax, VAT, or GST, and that handles payment-instrument processing and chargebacks. Astrafield LLC receives the net proceeds from Polar after Polar deducts taxes and its fees. Your purchase is therefore also subject to Polar’s terms and privacy policy, which you accept at checkout.

Paid plans are sold as recurring monthly or annual subscriptions and auto-renew at the end of each billing period at the then-current price for that plan, unless you cancel before the renewal date. We may change prices for future billing periods; we will notify you of a price change before it takes effect, and you may cancel before the new price applies.

If a payment fails, we may suspend or downgrade your access until the issue is resolved. Failure to pay does not by itself terminate your obligations under these Terms.

8.Cancellation

You may cancel a paid subscription at any time from the Billing tab in your CodebaseLM dashboard, which links you to the Polar customer portal where the cancellation is processed. After you cancel, your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period; you will not be charged again, and your account will then revert to the free tier (subject to the free-tier quotas and limitations).

We do not pro-rate refunds for the unused portion of a billing period when you cancel mid-period, except as described in Section 9 or as required by applicable law.

9.Refunds

We want you to feel good about paying for the Service. If you upgrade to a paid tier and decide it is not for you, you may request a full refund of the first monthly charge of that subscription within 14 days of that charge by emailing support@codebaselm.ai from the email associated with your account. Because Polar is the Merchant of Record, we will instruct Polar to issue the refund to your original payment method.

Outside that 14-day first-month window, payments are non-refundable, except where a refund is required by applicable law or where we offer one at our sole discretion (for example, in response to a confirmed Service outage of significant duration). Annual subscriptions are similarly subject to the 14-day window from the date of the initial annual charge; subsequent renewal charges are non-refundable.

10.Termination by us

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you materially breach these Terms (including the Acceptable Use section), if your continued use poses a security, legal, or reputational risk to us or to other users, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Where the situation is not abusive or unlawful, we will, when reasonably feasible, give you a chance to export your tour history and notes before your account is closed.

Upon termination, the licenses we grant you in Section 6 end, and we may delete content associated with your account, subject to backup and legal-retention periods described in our Privacy Policy. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including those on intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law) will survive.

11.Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Astrafield LLC disclaims all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty arising out of course of dealing or usage of trade.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free; that defects will be corrected; or that the AI output will be accurate, complete, current, or fit for any particular use. The Service depends on third-party providers (including GitHub, large-language-model providers, and Polar) that we do not control, and outages or behavior changes by those providers may affect availability. You use any output of the Service at your own risk.

12.Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Astrafield LLC and its officers, directors, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunity, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, regardless of the theory of liability (contract, tort, statute, or otherwise), will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you actually paid Astrafield LLC for the Service in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) US$100. These limits apply in the aggregate to all claims, not per incident.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; in those jurisdictions, the limitations above apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.

13.Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Astrafield LLC, its affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, demands, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use or misuse of the Service; (b) your breach of these Terms or any policy incorporated by reference; (c) your violation of any law or third-party right (including the rights of any repository owner whose code you tour without authorization); or (d) content you submit to or generate through the Service.

We reserve the right, at our own expense, to assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter otherwise subject to indemnification by you, in which case you agree to cooperate with our defense.

14.Governing law and disputes

These Terms and any dispute arising out of them or out of your use of the Service are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. You and Astrafield LLC agree that the exclusive jurisdiction and venue for any dispute that is not required to be resolved by other means under applicable law will be the state and federal courts located in California, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.

Nothing in this section limits any right you may have under mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence.

15.Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make a material change, we will update the “Effective date” at the top of this page and, if you have an account, notify you by email at the address on file at least a reasonable period before the change takes effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of an updated version constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the Service before they take effect.

16.Contact
